Opportunity Tuition Waiver

If you recently graduated from or attend a Scurry County High School, you may be eligible for the Opportunity Tuition Waiver.

The Opportunity Tuition Waiver covers tuition and certain fees (building and general use fees only) for a maximum of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester for Scurry County high school graduates and twelve (12) credit hours per semester for Scurry County Dual Credit students.

High School graduates must be registered in at least twelve (12) credit hours for the fall semester immediately following his/her graduation and have a cumulative GPA of 2.75.

Returning Opportunity Tuition Waiver students must be registered for at least twelve (12) credit hours and have a cumulative GPA of 2.75. 

Dual Credit students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 and may enroll up to 12 credit hours. 

High School graduates and returning Opportunity Tuition Waiver students must complete 40 hours of community service with a WTC-approved organization.

Dual Credit students and returning Opportunity Tuition Waiver Dual Credit students must complete 20 hours with a WTC-approved organization.

In order to be eligible for the Opportunity Tuition Waiver starting in the Fall 2021 term, Scurry County Graduates and Scurry County Dual Credit students must complete and/or submit the following items.

All paperwork and community service hours must be completed and submitted no later than the second Thursday in July.

  

Items to Complete

Scurry County Graduates Dual Credit Students

1. Submit the Opportunity Tuition Waiver Application (See below)

2. Complete 40 hours of community service with a WTC-approved organization (submit time record).  

3. Attend the Western Texas College New Student Orientation (Scurry County High School Graduates Only)

4. Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA)

5. Submit the WTC Application for Admission ONLINE

1. Submit the Dual Credit Opportunity Tuition Waiver Application

2. Complete 20 hours of community service with a WTC-approved organization (submit time record).  

3. Submit an Official High School Transcript or 8th-grade report card for new 9th-grade Dual Credit students

4. Submit the Dual Credit Admission Application

Western Texas College works with the community to provide Opportunity Tuition Waiver students with approved organizations to perform volunteer community service hours.
